Since 1974, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms have been the leading men’s soccer team in National, Regional, State and Local competitions.

NEW YORK PANCYPRIAN FREEDOMS

A Legacy That Continues

Since 1974, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms have represented excellence, tradition, and community at the highest levels of amateur and semi-professional soccer in New York.

Born from the Greek-Cypriot community in Astoria, Queens, the Freedoms have built one of the most decorated histories in American soccer. The club has won three U.S. Open Cup championships, in 1980, 1982, and 1983, and captured the National Amateur Cup in 2024. The Freedoms have also won the National Amateur Open Cup in 2008, 2010, and 2011, along with numerous league, state, and regional championships.

Today, that tradition continues with a men's team competing in the American Premier Soccer League (APSL).

THE NEXT GENERATION OF PANCYPRIAN

The Freedoms bring together a highly talented group of players, including former professional players and top collegiate athletes from some of the country's leading soccer programs.

For many players, the Freedoms provide an opportunity to continue competing at a high level while pursuing careers, graduate studies, and life beyond college soccer. The team combines experienced players with emerging talent, creating a competitive environment built around accountability, professionalism, and a genuine love for the game.

The connection to our youth program is also an important part of the club's identity. For generations, players have grown through the Eleftheria Pancyprian system before earning the opportunity to represent the Freedoms at the men's level.

MORE THAN A SOCCER TEAM

The Pancyprian Freedoms are part of a tradition that is bigger than the game.

From the community that founded the club in 1974 to the players who wear the blue and white today, the Freedoms represent the pride, resilience, and heritage of the Greek-Cypriot community while continuing to make their mark on American soccer.

The club has competed on some of the biggest stages in American soccer, including the U.S. Open Cup and international competition. In 1984, following their 1983 U.S. Open Cup championship, the Freedoms reached the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

More than 50 years later, the mission remains the same:

Develop great players. Compete at the highest level. Represent our community. Carry the tradition forward.

THE PATHWAY

The men's team represents the highest level of the Eleftheria Pancyprian pathway.

Youth Soccer → Player Development → College & Beyond → Pancyprian Freedoms

For our young players, the Freedoms provide something important: a connection to the future. The opportunity to see players who came through the same community, wore the same colors, and continue to compete at a high level.

The tradition started in 1974.
The next chapter is being written today.
