Pancyprians Storm into APSL Final After 3-1 Win Over Manhattan Celtic
The New York Pancyprian Freedoms are heading to the APSL Metropolitan Conference Final after defeating Manhattan Celtic FC 3-1 on Sunday, June 1st at Queens College. The reigning National Amateur Cup champions once again proved why they’re the team to beat, with clinical finishing, disciplined defense, and standout goalkeeping.
The night started with a statement from goalkeeper Joshua Levine, who came up big early with a string of saves that kept Manhattan Celtic from taking the lead. That foundation allowed the Pancyprians to grow into the game and take control.
In the 29th minute, James Thristino—inevitable as ever—opened the scoring with a composed finish to put NYPF up 1-0. While Manhattan answered back in the 49th minute through Nicolas Macri Badessich, the Freedoms stayed composed and sharpened their attack.
Luis Argudo reclaimed the lead in the 75th minute with a siple header at the back post that broke the game open. Just five minutes later, Junior Rosero added the insurance goal, putting away NYPF’s third and sealing the victory.
The result sends the Pancyprians to the Metropolitan Conference Final, where they will face off against rivals Lansdowne Yonkers FC at Belson Stadium on Saturday, June 8th at 4:00 PM. With the regular season title already clinched, the Freedoms are now one win away from completing the APSL double.
Reserves Stay Red-Hot
Meanwhile, the New York Pancyprian Freedoms II continued their incredible form with a gritty 1-0 victory over CPR Kick Off. A lone goal from captain Gerasimos Tzanetatos was enough to get the job done and extend their unbeaten streak to 19 games in league play—plus four additional wins en route to capturing the 2025 ENYSSA Strumpf Cup. The second team has become a fortress, and their consistency has been a key driver of club-wide success this season.
From top to bottom, the 2024–2025 campaign is shaping up to be one of the most dominant in the club’s 50-year history.
