Pancyprian Reserves Capture ENYSSA Strumpf Cup for First Time in Club History

On Sunday, May 18th, history was made at Randall’s Island as the New York Pancyprian Freedoms II claimed their first-ever ENYSSA Strumpf Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Queens Calcio, representing the Long Island Soccer Football League (LISFL).
Powered by two clinical goals from Yanis Hamdi-Pacha—one in each half—the Freedoms II squad demonstrated grit, composure, and a collective determination to bring home a title that had eluded the club for 50 years. From start to finish, it was a performance fueled by passion and purpose.
“This win means a great deal—not just for the team, but for the entire club,” said Head Coach Paul Kontonis. “To bring the Strumpf Cup to the Pancyprians for the first time in our 50-year history is something these players will never forget. It shows the strength of our young squad and a big step in making the 2024/2025 season one of the most historic yet.”
In a post game interview with Game in Frame, team captains Gerasimos Tzanetatos described the win as magic and George Angelidis went on to dedicate this win to “everyone affiliated with the club that do a lot for us and we try to put out best foot forward. It’s a family at the end of the day.”
With the First Team advancing in the USASA Open Amateur Cup and already crowned APSL Metropolitan Conference champions, the Freedoms II win adds another layer to what’s shaping up to be a landmark season across all levels of the club.
The Strumpf Cup—named after long-time ENYSSA administrator Peter Strumpf—is one of the most prestigious amateur competitions in the region. Winning it places the Pancyprian Freedoms II in elite company and further cements the club’s legacy as a powerhouse in New York amateur soccer.
As the club celebrates its golden anniversary, this victory serves as a symbol of progress, unity, and continued excellence across generations of players wearing the blue and white.
