Eleftheria Pancyprian Selected for US Youth Soccer U5/U6 Game Format Project

We are proud to announce that Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club has been officially selected as one of just 25 clubs nationwide to participate in US Youth Soccer’s U5/U6 Game Format Project, an initiative supported in part by U.S. Soccer’s Innovate to Grow Grant.

The project is designed to rethink the way our youngest players experience the game. Instead of traditional larger formats, participating clubs introduce smaller-sided 2v2 and 3v3 games on smaller fields, creating an environment where every player is more involved and gets more opportunities to touch the ball.

More Touches. More Decisions. More Fun.

Research from the United States and Europe shows that 2v2 and 3v3 environments create more opportunities for players to:

  • Get more touches on the ball

  • Develop confidence and comfort in possession

  • Experience more 1v1 situations

  • Make quicker decisions

  • Practice passing, receiving, dribbling and finishing

  • Have more opportunities to score

  • Stay active and engaged throughout the game

At Eleftheria Pancyprian, these small-sided games will be incorporated into our Micro and Intramural festival days, creating a fun, energetic environment where young players can learn through playing.

The goal is simple: less standing around, more playing. Less emphasis on results, more emphasis on development.

As part of the project, our coaches will also have access to additional US Youth Soccer educational resources and age-appropriate curriculum to help create better experiences for our youngest players.

This recognition reflects what we believe in at Eleftheria Pancyprian: development starts from the very first touch.

We are excited to be part of this national initiative and to continue creating an environment where young players can Develop. Inspire. Belong.
