At a reception held at the Presidential Palace during the World Conference of the Cyprus Diaspora, Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club (EPSC) proudly celebrated a historic moment. Mr. Nicos Tziazas, President of EPSC, along with Mr. Andreas Kyprianides, Honorary Consul General of Cyprus in California, was honored by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, for his remarkable contributions to the Cypriot community.

The recognition took place as part of the opening of the World Conference of the Cyprus Diaspora 2025, which is being held under the theme “From the seas of the world… to the land that unites us.” Running from August 26–29 in Nicosia, the conference underscores the vital role of the Cypriot diaspora as a bridge between Cyprus and the global community.

President Christodoulides personally addressed the opening ceremony at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, formally declaring the conference open. The event was attended by representatives of Cypriot communities worldwide, senior government officials, and cultural leaders. The evening featured both official addresses and a musical performance, blending tradition and diplomacy.

For Eleftheria, this honor is deeply meaningful. “We are very proud of Mr. Tziazas and extend our warmest congratulations,” said Parry Ermogenous. EPSC board member and current president-elect. “His leadership and commitment to our community embody the ideals of service, heritage, and pride that Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club stands for.”

The World Conference of Cyprus Diaspora is organized by the Expatriates and Repatriates Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (POMAK), the International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA), and the World Organisation for Young Overseas Cypriots (NEPOMAK).

The FCAO was established to preserve and promote Hellenic Cypriot culture, heritage, principles, and ideals in the United States. Through coordinated cultural, charitable, educational, and community activities, the FCAO strengthens the bonds between Cyprus and its diaspora.

This year’s conference will also include special commemorations, such as a tribute to benefactor Nikos Mouyiaris in Athienou and a concert marking the 51st anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion. These events, alongside the honoring of diaspora leaders like Mr. Tziazas and Mr. Kyprianides, highlight the enduring resilience, unity, and cultural pride of Cypriots across the world.

Eleftheria celebrates this milestone with great pride and looks forward to continuing its mission of community, culture, and soccer with the same dedication exemplified by its honored president.
